This was an open access day for Jerimoth Hill which although it is less than 200 yards off of
Route 101 it requires crossing over private property to get to the actual boulder marking the
spot. The rumour was that until recently it was one of that harder ones to legally reach. In 2005
there were several open access days negotiated by the Highpointer's Club on holiday
weekends so we made the detour on our way to Newport and Block Island for the day. The
day was beautiful and it was exciting to sign a register and have our first official high point
since hearing about the club. I briefly spoke with a few club members there who were having a
tailgate celebration. Pam and Colleen were good sports for getting up early and putting up
with the extra mileage. They refrained from showing their amusement at Kevin and I until I
questioned why they didn't even leave the car. I guess since the road sign is recognized by
the club as acceptable they can still claim a highpoint too.

After gaining 807' of the 812' by car, Kevin prompted a discussion where we came up with our
ground rule that it we would still consider it a climb if the road was not built to reach the high
point or if there were no alternative hiking routes.

Bob's turn.
At the "not quite the highest point" road sign.
