Heading east from Birmingham on Route 20 we passed the Talladega Speedway on the way to
Cheaha State Park. We were early enough that the summit tower was empty and after
wandering around it for a short while we drove down to the restaurant by the gate to take in
the views from there.
I was wondering why the TomTom took us into the park from the Northeast since we
approached from the west. That question was answered when I tried to head west out of the
park and I had to put my full faith in the GPS as we wound all over the place through the hills
until we got back to Route 20. Next stop - Woodall Mountain!
