Kevin and I claimed this highpoint only 2 1/2 hours after Mount Davis and this was after
stopping in at the self-proclaimed smallest church in the USA in Silver Lake, West Virginia right
near the trail head. The pews would hold only about a dozen people - perfect for a wedding for
those on a tight budget. The trail starts in West Virginia just below Silver Lake on route 219 and
heads up an old logging road most of the way.  It would normally be a 2.1 mile round trip to the
high point in the southwest corner of Maryland except that we took a left too early off the
logging road and added about a quarter of a mile to the trip.

We didn't spend too much time at the high point since we had some driving left to do to get to
the Seneca Shadows campground tent area which had a great view of the knife-edge ridge of
Seneca Rocks. It took 9 1/2 hours of driving time today to cover 497 miles in the new Rogue.
The USA's (self proclaimed)
smallest church.
No need for the crampons here!
