The timing of this entire seven night trip hinged on one of the few open access days to Charles
Mound which is privately owned.  Today, after visiting the high point, we were scheduled to fly
home out of the nearest big airport which was in Madison, Wisconsin.  Kevin and I got a
reasonably early start from our hotel in Moline, Illinois and when we arrived at the property
there was a sign at the base of the driveway saying to park there and a few cars were already
taking up most of what little parking room there was.  Although this is another farmland
highpoint, much of the mile long driveway was bordered by woods with a gradual uphill.  We
did not stay long at the highpoint marker due to aggressive gnats.  On the way back we
stopped to talk to two guys heading up.  They had done some of the big highpoints but were
impressed with how many we had completed ... 45!  Apparently, as I chatted with one of them,
his friend and Kevin were being driven crazy by the bugs while we remained oblivious.  Kevin
hates the bugs but they seem to like him!

Driving statistics:
3470 miles
54.4 miles/hr average speed
33.2 miles/gal
On our last night of the trip in Moline, Kevin
treated us to dinner.  I think he is regretting
that last plate of the all-you-can-eat fish fry.
The bugs are attacking him on
the way to the highpoint.
The required proof of
"summitting" for our 45th
highpoint.
